Session Description
When a beloved ride starts to show its age – why replace when you can upcycle?
Opened in 1997 Ice Blast at Pleasure Beach Resort in the UK was a 185ft tall S&S shot tower and both part of the park’s skyline plus a well-loved fan favourite ride.
But by 2023 it was time to think about retiring or replacing this ride. However instead the park decided to go in a different direction – choosing to upgrade and re-present the ride as “new” with added thrills and reusing much of the original structure and ride hardware.
In its new guise Launch Pad re-opened in 2025 to great acclaim.
This session – delivered by those that worked on the project - will highlight how approaching your existing ride line-up sustainably and considering your older rides in imaginative new ways can be both cost effective and also satisfy guests.
