Course Description
This course provides an overview of the planning and design process for festivals and special events, including objective setting, creative sessions, master planning, and execution. Throughout the course, you will gain valuable knowledge on the significance of budgeting, storytelling, and collaboration with other departments to successfully execute special events at your attraction. You will learn about design practices to consider while preparing your facility for these events and other entertainment offerings. Lastly, you will learn about the most effective methods for creating design and pitch documents that will garner support and approval from stakeholders at your attraction.
This 45-minute course includes multiple inline activities to aid in the understanding of planning festivals and special events at your attraction. This course also includes a knowledge check to reinforce the concepts and is a vital course for any team member involved in the planning and design process of special events or entertainment offerings at an attraction.
Course Objectives
- Examine the planning processes for special events (e.g., festivals)
- Explain the importance of collaborating with all vendors, department leaders, and other subject matter experts to plan and ensure the event is successful (entertainment, merchandise, F&B, etc.)
- Identify venue (facility) adaptations needed for event success
- Develop design plans and pitch documents to obtain stakeholder approval
