Course Description
This course provides an overview of the planning and design process for festivals and special events, including goal setting, creative sessions, master planning, and execution. Throughout the course, you'll gain valuable knowledge about the importance of budgeting, storytelling, and collaborating with other departments to successfully execute special events at your attraction. You'll learn about design practices to consider when preparing your facility for these events and other entertainment offerings. Finally, you'll learn about the most effective methods for creating design and presentation documents that will garner support and approval from stakeholders in your attraction.
This 45-minute course includes multiple online activities to aid in the understanding of planning festivals and special events at your attraction. In addition, this course includes a knowledge check to reinforce concepts and is a vital course for any team member involved in the process of planning and designing special events and entertainment offerings at an attraction.
Course objectives
- Examine planning processes for special events (e.g., festivals)
- Explain the importance of collaborating with all vendors, department leaders, and other subject matter experts to plan and ensure the success of the event (entertainment, merchandise, food and beverage, etc.)
- Identify the necessary adaptations in the venue (facilities) for the success of the event
- Develop design plans and presentation documents to gain stakeholder approval
