Course Description:
The course provides an overview of the planning and design process for festivals and special events, including goal setting, creative sessions, master planning and execution. Throughout the course, you'll gain important knowledge about budgeting, scenario setting, and working with other departments to successfully execute attraction special events. You'll learn about design practices to consider when preparing a facility for these and other recreational programs. Finally, you will learn the most effective way to create design and pitch documents to gain buy-in and approval from attraction stakeholders.
This 45-minute course includes multiple inline activities to help understand how to plan festivals and special events at an attraction. The course also includes a knowledge test to reinforce the concept and is suitable for all team members involved in the planning and design process of a special event or entertainment program at an attraction.
Course Objectives:
- Explore the planning process for special events, such as festivals
- Explain the importance of working with all vendors, department heads, and other experts to plan and ensure the success of the event (entertainment, merchandise, catering, etc.)
- Determine the site (facility) adaptation required for the success of the event
- Develop design plans and pitch documents to obtain stakeholder approval
