Festivalization: Blurring Lines Between Parks and Music Festivals

Session Description

How can special events other than Halloween and Christmas bring a festival vibe (and new audiences and spending) to a theme park? And as events such as music festivals and Christmas markets employ an increasingly sophisticated level of production and theming, are they becoming pop-up theme parks?

We’ll hear from a Dutch theme park that has fully embraced the concept of ‘Festivalization’, examples of festivals that have tipped their toe into the world of attractions, and the experience of a designer that works on both. What best practices can the two sectors share, how operationally are they different, and what might be right for your facility?
