Session Description
Cultural attractions are in the throes of an exciting but daunting paradigm shift. A central challenge for museums and other cultural attractions is, increasingly, how we can borrow from and improve upon the best aspects of immersive experiences offered by a booming pop-up industry. Namely, that they can attract, excite, entertain, inspire and awe—all while building our institutional capacity to create offerings that are participative, interactive, meaningful, educational, and accessible to visitors of all ages and abilities. Technology is evolving to become simultaneously less costly and more diverse in what it can help us achieve. Experts from the traveling exhibits and immersive design industry will join the Museum of Science and National Geographic Society to discuss trends in temporary experiences and explore current efforts to create opportunities for rotating and changeable immersive and interactive content experiences.
